Flames midfielder Robert Ng’ambi helped Platinum Stars preserve a seven-game unbeaten run when they beat Atusaye Nyondo’s University of Pretoria 1-0 in a South Africa Absa Premiership match on Wednesday night.

“The visitors did, however, create a few opportunities during the 90 minutes, but Dikwena looked the livelier of the two with Mthembu and Robert Ng’ambi spurning opportunities, catching AmaTuks on the break,” reported www.soccerladuma.co.za.

Stars scored through Siphelele Mthembu’s strike. Stars are third on nine points, one behind leaders SuperSport United who lost 2-0 to Moroka Swallows with veteran Siyabonga Nomvethe and Edward Manquele on target.

There was still no first league win for Flames veteran striker Esau Kanyenda who fought in vain when Polokwane City lost 1-0 to Orlando Pirates.

The newly promoted City are at the bottom without a point from five games.

Defender Rooi Mahamutsa netted the solitary strike against City who fired their coach Duncan Lechesa at the weekend.

In other games, Peter Wadabwa had a run as a substitute, but could not prevent Golden Arrows from losing 1-0 to Free State Stars, thanks to Abdul Basit Adam goal.
